“When I teach yoga, I’m trying to open up the realm of the body and the mind for each individual. Yoga is so much more than just asana (the practice of yoga postures): Yoga is about finding yourself through introspection; it’s about connecting with your body and with others. Yoga is about realizing peace and love. Yoga empowers me in every moment to attempt to go beyond the confines of the body and the mind! My teacher training experience with Carla Olla went so far beyond what I had expected when I signed up. Carla’s deep care for your growth as a student of yoga ensures that you will leave the program prepared to teach a yoga class that very day. Her investment in her own personal practice of yoga makes her a trustworthy source for all the knowledge she imparts on you, and her fearless attitude made me always want to try my best to live up to the potential she sees in each of her students. She educated us on how yoga translates into acts of service and love in the real world. I left Carla’s teacher training program confident in my skills as a new yoga teacher, but also with a new hold on life. My curiosity had blossomed and I asked better questions of myself and of the world around me. It was a privilege to train under Carla Olla.”
Jackie is from Naples, Florida and is currently studying Global & International Studies at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher certification at Love Yoga Center in Naples in 2017, and was a substitute teacher at the studio before moving to the Hudson Valley.
At Bard College, she started the Bard Yoga Club and teaches weekly yoga classes for Bard students. While the College offers free yoga classes at the gym, the Yoga Club classes include discussion of yogic philosophy to “uplift” yoga practitioners.
